5 Things You MUST DO to be a Successful Social Enterprise
There’s no denying it, we love social good businesses. Businesses that link their vision, values, goods and services to making positive social change … and making money.
But don’t be fooled. “Social” business does NOT mean soft at the centre, or at the edges. What we’re talking about is big, bold business that can make the world better.
Where to begin? We’ve put together a short list of do-this-and-that — five things for successful social enterprise. Yes, there are more than five, but this is a good start.
Move your mindset
Get on the change train. Shift from a charity mindset to a change mindset. Lose the word “help” and use words that say what you do to get the change you want.
Map your mission
From here to where? Develop a theory of change, not a static business plan. Illustrate how and why you expect your desired change to happen. Test and adapt.
Mobilise your masses
Where caring is sharing. Connect the people who “get” your mission and can easily link their story to yours. They’ll spread your news, and rave about what you do.
Make your money
Movements need moola. Remember that making money is mission critical. Giving and getting, fair exchange, values economy. Moola helps you drive momentum.
Monitor your metrics
Evidence speaks. Review what works in real time, and then adapt and adjust your change map to make a greater difference. Remember, no static business plan!
Our pleasure! Now, build your business to be the change.
